The Descendants of Edward Eanes of Henrico and Chesterfield Counties in Virginia
This page is based in large part upon the life work of Richard Henry Eanes and is dedicated to him. Richard Eanes published The Descendants of Edward Eanes of Henrico and Chesterfield Counties in Virginia in 1940. This work was subsequently revised in 1968 and again in 1981. This massive work chronicals the Eanes family from its transplantation in Colonial Virginia over the next two hundred and fifty years as the descendants of Edward migrated throughout the United States. Without the scholarship of Richard Eanes, the rich history of this great American family would be lost to the ages.
The homestead of William Lexington Eanes(6-14) located on the rise just above the Appomatox River at Goode's Bridge in Amelia County. The house was adjacent to present day Route 360. It is not known if the gentleman on horseback is Mr. Eanes. This house no longer stands.
AN EXCERPT FROM THE DESCENDANTS OF EDWARD EANES OF VIRGINIA OF HENRICO AND CHESTERFIELD COUNTIES IN VIRGINIA
This book is a list of some of the descendants of one planter of early Virginia. Obviously it is not complete, in fact, it contains perhaps a list of not more than fifty percent of the descendants of Edward Eanes of Henrico and Chesterfield Counties in Virginia. It is regretted that it could not be made more complete. It could and would have been, had all of those, to whom this book should belong, responded with the information that was requested of them. As it is, it gives more information than is in possession of the average American family. There has been little attempt to describe personalities, very little information has been written about the individuals listed. This would have made the book more interesting had it been possible. However, it has been a task of considerable magnitude to get, with as much accuracy as possible, that information here presented. It is being presented now for it is felt that it should become a written record distributed so that it can not be lost in the future, and with the hope that in its present form it may arouse interest among those who are able to add to it, and in that way become more complete in some future edition, done by some one more able than its present compiler.
